I witnessed what transpired behind closed doors, and if this government continues to attack me, I will expose them—MP

The current Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has made grave charges against her former party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including internal sabotage and corruption. After losing the NPP's nomination, Morrison is now running as an independent and has pledged to reveal the party's alleged wrongdoing if their assaults on her persist.

Morrison voiced her annoyance in an open interview, accusing the NPP of employing dishonest tactics to undermine her campaign. She said that in order to keep her name off the ballot, party officials conspired with election officials. "They've partnered with the Electoral Commission to make sure my name doesn't appear on the ballot, but I won't be quiet," she said. Morrison went on to say that the residents of Agona West should be fairly represented and promised to fight for their rights.

The former NPP mainstay expressed her dissatisfaction with the way she was treated during the party's primaries and said that insiders were purposefully trying to undermine her bid for reelection. She talked about how NPP supporters have publicly attacked her, spreading lies to damage her name, she claimed. "The NPP has been disparaging me in public, sending their supporters to disparage and disseminate false information about me. However, I am aware of the reality. And I will reveal all I know about this regime, from the president to the lowest levels, if they press me further," she said.

Morrison made insinuations that he had bad knowledge about the government's management of COVID-19 aid money and more general wrongdoing in the government. As someone who served in this administration during COVID-19, I have firsthand knowledge of what transpired behind closed doors. They are misguided if they believe that I will sit quietly while they engage in these games. She said, "I will ensure that Ghanaians are fully informed about the situation in their leadership."

Despite the challenges, Morrison remains steadfast in her independent candidacy, pledging to expose what she describes as the "truth" about the NPP’s internal dealings. Her bold stance has positioned her as a fierce contender in the upcoming elections, sparking widespread attention and speculation about the potential fallout from her revelations.
