Adamus Lease Revocation: Affected communities youth expose self-imposed Jonas Kabutey

Wed, 29 Apr 2026 Source: Kaku Daniel

The youth of the catchment communities of the Adamus Resources Limited in the Nzemaland of the Western region, have exposed one Jonas Kabutey who has called himself as the spokesperson for the concerned youth of Nzema.

According to the youth of the affected communities of Adamus Resources Limited, Jonas Kabutey has issued a press statement to defend the Adamus Resources Limited and its CEO, Angela List over the revocation of the company's mining lease at Nkroful, Salman and Akango.

They have therefore, described Jonas Kabutey as self-imposed citizen of Nzemaland.

"We set the record unequivocally that no association called the "Concerned Youth of Nzema" exists or is recognized by the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) of the Nzema area. This "group" is the pure invention of a single individual, Jonas Kabutey, who has no legitimate platform or mandate to speak for the Nzema youth. His attempt to cloak his personal agenda in the language of community concern is an insult to our collective intelligence", the statement stated.

"The credibility of this said messenger is fundamentally broken. Firstly, Jonas Kabutey is not an Nzema. His sudden, self-appointed role as the community's spokesman is therefore suspicious and illegitimate. More damningly, he is not a neutral party but a known appendage and self-proclaimed cousin of the CEO of Adamus Resources Limited", the statement added.

The statement further stated, "Kabutey’s activism is not driven by altruism but by personal patronage. It is an open secret that his loyalty has been purchased through generous benefits from the Adamus CEO, including the gift of a car and sponsored travel to the USA for medical care".

The youth of the catchment communities of Adamus Resources Limited seized the opportunity to commend the government for revoking the mining lease of Adamus Resources Limited.

REJOINDER: Setting the Record Straight on the So-Called "Concerned Youth of Nzema"

The recent statement attributed to one Jonas Kabutey, purporting to represent the "Concerned Youth of Nzema," is not just misleading but a deliberate and cynical fabrication that must be exposed and condemned in the strongest possible terms.

We set the record unequivocally that no association called the "Concerned Youth of Nzema" exists or is recognized by the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) of the Nzema area. This "group" is the pure invention of a single individual, Jonas Kabutey, who has no legitimate platform or mandate to speak for the Nzema youth. His attempt to cloak his personal agenda in the language of community concern is an insult to our collective intelligence.

The credibility of this said messenger is fundamentally broken. Firstly, Jonas Kabutey is not an Nzema. His sudden, self-appointed role as the community's spokesman is therefore suspicious and illegitimate. More damningly, he is not a neutral party but a known appendage and self-proclaimed cousin of the CEO of Adamus Resources Limited.

His so-called "concern" is a thinly veiled advocacy for the interests of the very company whose license has been revoked.

Kabutey’s activism is not driven by altruism but by personal patronage. It is an open secret that his loyalty has been purchased through generous benefits from the Adamus CEO, including the gift of a car and sponsored travel to the USA for medical care.

Mr. Jonas Kabutey was transferred to Ellembelle as a social welfare worker.

He is not a community leader; he is a beneficiary lobbying for his benefactor, using the guise of youth concern as a smokescreen. These facts raise serious questions about his presence and voice in this matter.

Contrary to the narrative pushed by this fabricated group, the overwhelming majority of Nzema youth are rejoicing over the revocation of the Adamus mining license. A simple, honest examination in our communities, markets, and streets will confirm this widespread sentiment.

For years, our people have borne the brunt of mining activities with little to show in terms of sustainable development and employment.

The revocation is seen by many as a long-overdue corrective step and an opportunity to reset the terms of engagement for the benefit of the land and its true owners.

We agree that inclusive dialogue is essential. However, such dialogue must be authentic and free from the toxic influence of paid agents and attachments and fabricated community groups.

In conclusion, we wish to state in the most categorical terms that the statement from "Jonas Kabutey & Co." is a misleading public relations stunt masquerading as community advocacy.

It represents the dying gasp of a vested interest trying to manipulate public opinion.

We urge the media, traditional authorities, and the government to disregard this charade.

The true Nzema youth are ready for a new chapter—one built on truth, transparency, and the genuine development of our homeland, not on the selfish agendas of imported spokespeople.
