Cape Coast — The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (AME Zion), Western West Africa Episcopal District, has officially opened the 3rd Biennial Joint Session of the Africa, USA, and England Conferences in Cape Coast.

The six-day gathering, held under the theme “Serving the Present Age: Concentrating on Our Ministries,” is designed to reinforce Christians’ commitment to their callings and encourage the church to remain responsive to contemporary societal and spiritual needs.

In his opening address, the host of the conference, Rt. Rev. Dr. Hillard K. Dela Dogbe, underscored the theme’s relevance as a clarion call for believers to stay devoted to their ministries while effectively engaging the generation they serve. He urged church leaders to recognise the shifting dynamics in how young people relate to faith and consume information, and to adopt innovative and contextually relevant approaches to ministry.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Dogbe further noted that creating diverse platforms for youth engagement would not only enhance their sense of fulfilment in worship but also inspire them to take active ownership of the church’s life and mission. Beyond spiritual renewal, he emphasised environmental stewardship as an integral dimension of Christian responsibility, calling on members to uphold the duty of preserving God’s creation through deliberate efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

Also addressing the gathering, the Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, challenged delegates to reflect on their role in shaping the present generation while safeguarding cultural values and traditions that risk being lost. He reiterated the importance of sanitation and waste management, urging individuals, faith-based organisations, and communities to adopt a shared sense of responsibility in keeping their surroundings clean.

The conference is expected to serve as a vital platform for church leaders and members from the three regions to evaluate the state of their ministries, deepen their commitment to social transformation, and chart practical pathways for addressing the pressing needs of the present age.
