Broadcast Journalist DC Kwame Kwakye Presents Media Award to Chief Imam

ACCRA – Multiple award-winning broadcast journalist and fatherhood advocate, DC Kwame Kwakye, has presented his 2024/25 Central Region Media Personality Award to the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

The presentation took place at the Chief Imam's Fadama residence in Accra on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kwakye expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit the revered cleric for the third consecutive time. He recounted that his first visit was to present a copy of his book, "Beyond Fatherhood: Changing The Narrative," followed by a second occasion to honour the Chief Imam with his 2023/2024 Media Personality Award.

Kwakye stated that this third visit was to present the latest award and to express his deep appreciation for the Chief Imam's continued prayers and motivational messages, which have been delivered through an emissary.

Reflecting on the importance of gratitude, the fatherhood advocate noted, "In life, showing gratitude guarantees longevity, while ingratitude cuts one's life short." He added that given the immense number of guests the Chief Imam receives daily, it was both humbling and noteworthy that he remembers and asks about him.

"If he can remember me in his prayers and send a word of motivation across to me, it is a truly humbling experience," Kwakye observed. "I can only reciprocate that gesture by honouring him with my award."

Kwakye also used the moment to extend his appreciation to Alhaji Baba Musa Kommanda, the National Public Relations Officer of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Council of Ghana, for his pivotal role in facilitating the visits.

"He has always been the one to arrange my access to the Chief Imam," Kwakye noted. "I do not take such opportunities for granted, and for that, I owe him a wealth of appreciation. I am most grateful to him."

In his response, His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu thanked Kwakye for his unwavering commitment to media excellence and his consistent gestures of appreciation. The Chief Imam offered prayers for the journalist, thanking Allah for his life and seeking continued blessings and opportunities for him in his life's journey.
