The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku commonly known as Ragga has issued a statement reacting to comments made by the Central Region Minister, Hon. Margold Assan against him during the Town Hall meeting held in Cape Coast regarding his request for DRIP machines from her.
Ragga's statement describes the minister's commentaries about him as false claims that assasinates his character and persona.
The statement issued by the MP on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 further argues that "admittedly, had it not been my respect and appreciation for women and those in leadership, I would not have taken these comments about me kindly at all, Madam Minister", emphasised the statement.
Again, the statement further describes as "FUNNY!" allegations made by the minister against the MPs for both Cape Coast North and South for not honouring any invitation to state functions.
Below is the full statement:
RAGGA writes.....
Response to the Central Regional Minister's false claims and character assassination statements
My attention has been drawn to an audio regarding a false claim by the Central Regional Minister Mrs. Marigold Assan. In the said audio, she alleged that during my campaign launch, I mentioned about her refusal to offer the DRIP machines to me upon request.
In the same audio, she attacked my persona and labelled me as a liar. She also attacked my position as a Member of Parliament claiming that my alleged utterance didn't befit a person holding the title of an 'Honourable'.
Disrespectfully, she also asked the general public to inform me that I am a liar.
In addition, she alleged that both MPs at the Cape Coast North and South have never attended any of the state functions she has invited us. This is FUNNY!
Admittedly, had it not been my respect and appreciation for women and those in leadership, I would not have taken these comments about me kindly at all, Madam Minister.
Notwithstanding, the good people of Cape Coast North and myself are extremely disappointed and feel highly disrespected by these false allegations leveled against me in particular, including that of Hon. Kweku Rickett-Hagan. They are also disappointed in her for calling their MP a liar.
Indeed, the Regional Minister has demonstrated her political immaturity; inability to decipher information, inability to think on her feet; and her vulnerability to media pressure and manipulation. She has lost all the respect and admiration I have always accorded her.
Madam Minister, at no point in my submission did I mention your name regarding any DRIP equipment request. (See attached video).
In this political game, do not allow yourself to be manipulated or misled into situations and discourses that you are not involved in.
Advisedly, the Minister must learn to gather the right facts or make more inquiries before misinforming the public. How can she claim that both MPs have never attended any of her invited state functions? For the records, both MPs have honoured many of your invitations.
Blame your lack of knowledge of our presence at such functions on your Protocol's deliberate attempts not to acknowledge us. If you care to know, this lack of acknowledgement drew media attention across Cape Coast some time back.
It is against this backdrop that I urge you Madam Minister, to retract these false allegations leveled against me and apologize immediately. Similarly, both MPs demand an apology for falsely accusing us of non attendance to any of your invited state functions.
Going forward, do well to get the right information before you misinform the general public. Failure to do so exposes your level of ignorance, arrogance, unwarranted attacks and seeks to suggest your unprofessional ways of handling issues.
I, Hon.Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku (RAGGA), MP for Cape Coast North remains committed to serving the constituency with integrity, honesty, transparency, and accountability. No amount of propaganda or lies can sway my focus.
I appreciate the public's attention to this matter and assure them that we will continue to prioritize truth and transparency in all our endeavors.
Thank you.
