The Rector of KAAF University, Professor Herbert Kwabla Dei has given an assurance that KAAF, which is now a full fledge university, will make impressive strides in improving innovations.

According to Prof. Dei, KAAF has received a presidential charter making it an autonomous university to independently roll out programmes that would be responsive to the developmental needs of the country and students.

Prof. Dei made this known in a brief engagement with the media after president Nana Akufo-Addo formally granted recognition to KAAF University to run as full university.

Addressing the media, the Rector stated that KAAF would leverage on the charter granted by the president to introduce innovative programmes that would enhance the educational experience of its students.

Importance of the charter

Prof. Dei reiterated the importance of the charter saying KAAF can now train its students and issue them with KAAF Certificates without being under the tutelage or mentorship of any public universities.

The charter would also enable KAAF University to independently introduce new modules of education without recourse to its mentor institutions as it used to do in the past. The charter, he explained, would allow KAAF to develop innovative educational modules where students on regular programmes at the university could opt out and continue as weekend students.

Additionally, the charter has given KAAF full recognition and authority to become a fully fledged university, a status KAAF has been fighting to achieve since 2023.

Strive for excellence

Prof Dei insisted that the new era of the university meant everything to the KAAF and promised that the university will continue to strive to achieve academic excellence at all times.

Assuring the general public, Prof. Dei hinted KAAF would not be swayed away by the its new status as a fully fledged university, but it would continue to maintain its high standards by producing quality graduates.

He urged the public to have trust in the university, promising KAA University would not compromise on its well known standards and quality.

Introduction of new programmes

Prof. Dei mentioned that KAAF would leverage on its new status to roll out a lot of programmes that it could not introduce due to the fact that it was under public universities such as KNUST, GIMPA and UDS mentorship.

“Right now we have a programme line up for PhD in nursing and PhD in midwifery. These programmes are currently not being run by any private university. He added, "KAAF University is going to be the first private university to run these programmes because we have already started masters programmes in nursing and midwifery, so we are going to add these ones to it”. He revealed.

Appreciation

On behalf of the management of the university, the Rector of KAAF expressed a high level of appreciation to president, Nana Akufo-Addo for the honour done the university.

He also thanked the regulator of tertiary education in Ghana - Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for their immense support throughout the processes which earned KAAF University the recognition.

In recognising the immense contribution of the chancellor of KAAF, Mr Michael Aidoo, and the governing council for their oversight roles in the affairs of the university in achieving this feat, Prof. Dei thanked them and encouraged them to continue to ensure effective management to even to do better as they journey on.
