The Obaapa Fatimah Amoadu Foundation (OFAF) has taken a proactive step towards improving the health of people in the Ekumfi constituency in the Central Region.

On Tuesday, 3rd March, 2026, the foundation organised a health screening exercise at Ekumfi Ekrawfo as part of the Ghana Month celebration and to promote the welfare of the people. The health screening, which catered for hundreds of people, focused on non-communicable diseases that are often neglected but cause a high number of fatalities in the country.

In an interview with a journalist, the founder and president of the foundation, Fatimah Amoadu, explained that the people of Ekumfi are dear to her heart and that she will do everything within her power to improve their living conditions.

Acknowledging the support she has received from the community, she expressed that she strongly believed the prayers of the people have contributed to her current level, stating that she will do everything within her power to return the favour.

"Ekumfi is my homeland; the constituents are my people. They show me love whenever the opportunity presents itself", she stressed. "I appreciate whatever they do for me; their prayers have taken me to the level I am at today, she stated. She further underscored thatthe least she can do for them is to reciprocate the love shown to her.

In a spirit of giving back and expressing her solidarity, she underscored, "I have made a personal commitment to serve them with all that I have." Recently, we graduated about 55 young girls who were sponsored to undergo artisanal training; today, they are self-employed and are having a positive impact on their families and communities. Others are also benefiting from health screenings," she stated in an interview.

Furthermore, she revealed that OFAF has lined up a lot of interventions to make a significant impact on the lives of many people in the district. Affirming, “Look! OFAF has a lot of plans for the people, and people will see it unfold in the coming days.”

The exercise forms part of the foundation's commitment to improving the well-being of people in the Ekumfi Constituency. The team lead and nutritionist at Saltpond District Hospital, Mrs. Judith Ofori, revealed that the screening was timely, saying that a good number of the participants have high blood pressure, of which most were not aware.

“Most of the people who were taken care of had high blood pressure, of which they were not aware. In fact, we have witnessed situations like this before, but the cases here are too numerous. We have given them medication, and some have been referred to bigger facilities for further diagnosis and treatment,” Mrs. Ofori told the media at the event.

Highlighting the urgent need for regular health check-ups, health officials noted that non-communicable diseases, particularly hypertension, do not present with any physical symptoms and might often go undetected. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Obaapa Fatimah Amoadu Foundation for bringing healthcare services closer to the community, noting that the initiative would help many residents take early steps toward managing their health.

The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to rolling out more interventions aimed at improving the well-being and livelihoods of people in the Ekumfi constituency.
