Charles Oppong, popularly known as 'Waniso', a Taxi Driver at Akyem Oda Old Town lifeless body has been found in an uncompleted building at the Royal Mount Calvary area near Akyem Swedru.
The body was discovered on Friday, October 21, 2024 in an uncompleted building with both hands and feet tired.
Kumba Emmanuel, a Secondary School mate of killed Charles Oppong, narrated that one Collins Boamah told him there are rumours someone has being been murdered. He suggested to Collins to as a matter of urgency rush to the scene to ascertain the veracity of the rumours.
Kumba continued, he subsequently made a report to the Police who avered that they had had similar information. He left the Police Station while the Police with other people visited the scene only to discover that it was their beloved 'Waniso' the popular Akyem Oda driver who incidentally is their mate.
Kumba added, "I personally wasn't at the scene but information gathered indicates that the body was decomposing. Based on that, I think he might have been killed about 3 or 4 days before the body was discovered", sombrely he shared.
Charles Oppong, the taxi driver is believed to have been murdered by some guys who hired his car. The gruesome murder is beleived to have occured on the road between Akyem Oda and Akyem Swedru. His assialants bolted away with his car.
As it stands, the Akyem Swedru Police District Commander, Phillip Nketia and his men are currently investigating the matter to unravel the mystery surrounding the murder.
The 1996 year group President of Akyem Swedru Secondary School (AKISSS), Mr. Jake Kofi Brako Okrah painfully shared his thoughts after hearing of the callous murder of their colleague, "Such a gruesome murder is very disturbing and his school and classmates are heartbroken knowing how lively Charles was during our school days. We will mobilize ourselves to bid him farewell and to support his bereaved wife and children in our little way that we can. Rest well Waniso, he stated.
Charles Oppong, 45 is survived by a wife and three children.
