The chiefs and people of Nkusukum in the Central Region have celebrated the appointment of Professor Ransford Edward Van Gyampo as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority.
The celebrated political science lecturer at Ghana's premier university is one of the proud indigenes of Saltpond and Nkusukum who have been honoured with appointments by President Mahama.
In a press release signed by the Paramount Chief of Nkusukum, Okogyeman Okese Essandoh IX, the chiefs of the Nkusukum Traditional Area expressed great appreciation to President Mahama for the honour done to the area. The release further noted that 'the appointment of Prof. Gyampo further emphasizes President Mahama's commitment not to dissipate national brains, but to harness them for national development.'
In describing Prof. Gyampo in their release, it stated he is 'bold, articulate, erudite, indefatigable, hardworking, competent, nationalistic, and patriotic', expressed the hope that Prof. Gyampo would strive to achieve in his new environment, justifying the rationale for his appointment.
Again, the release portrayed Prof. Gyampo as somebody who represented a paradigm shift from what has become commonly known as the winner-takes-all political syndrome.
Appeal to prez Mahama.
The Paramount Chief noted that the Mfantseman constituency seat has traditionally been regarded as a 'ministerial' seat, appealing to the President to consider their Member of Parliament, Dr. Prince Arhin, for a ministerial appointment. Such an appointment, in Nana Essandoh's view, would maintain the status quo of the Mfantseman constituency.
Nkusukum indigenes who have been given appointments by the President are Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo, Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Tourism Authority; Abeiku Aggrey Santana as Deputy; Dr. James Kofi Kutuati, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations, COCOBOD; and Ernest De-Graft Egyir, who was recently appointed as a member of the National Economic Dialogue (NED) Committee.
The Omanhen, on behalf of the people of Nkusukum, expressed their profound gratitude to the President for the honor his government has done to the area through appointments.
