Authorities of the Ekumfi Fruits and Juice Limited have commended President elect, John Dramani Mahama for showcasing their products during his Thanksgiving service.

The management of the company in expressing their gratitude, highlighted the significance of the president-elect, John Dramami Mahama's actions in fostering economic development and encouraging the patronage of made in Ghana products.

The Ekumfi Juice and Fruits Limited was the first factory to be constructed under the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's flagship ‘One District One Factory’ initiative.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Agronomist for Ekumfi Fruits and Juice Limited Farm, Kankam Biney appealed to the President-elect to sustain Ekumfi factory since it is the fulcrum around which major economic activities in Ekumfi revolve.

He believed strongly that Ekumfi Factory with a workforce of 700 employees had created jobs to alleviate the rate of poverty and unemployment in the Ekumfi District and it environs and has the capacity to employ more if it receives the needed assistance.

Mr. Biney took the opportunity to thank the outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo for his bold initiative under the 1D1F to boost employment and economic growth in the area.

"Ekumfi Fruits and Juice Limited is looking forward to accept president-elect's 24-hour economy policy to work with him to enable the company to produce more juice to meet the growing market demand", he revealed.

The Chief Agronomist added "As I'm speaking now, we are currently producing under capacity. We are supposed to cultivate between 7,000 and 9,000 acres of pineapple but currently we are doing 1,500", he stated. Mr. Biney noted, they are keenly looking forward to embrace the 24-hour economic policy and "how it will dovetail into supporting Ekumfi processing factory as well, since the juice is not enough on the Ghanaian market".

According to him, even though a lot more people enjoy the fresh fruit juice from the factory, there are complaints of not finding some to buy in the market. "It is because we don't have enough raw materials to feed the factory, hence our inability produce a lot for the market as expected.

We welcome any new policy from the next NDC government that will help the Ekumfi Fruit and Juice Limited meet its peak production capacity. The company has the capacity to employ 6000 workforce", he emphasised.
