"Afrobeats is Redefining Global Music"

Davido, a 32-year-old Afrobeats star, believes African music is changing how the world sees Africa. He notes that Nigerian culture is having a moment globally, with influences in film, food, fashion, and music. Despite some criticism that American artists are copying Afrobeats' sound, Davido sees it as a privilege.

"African music has changed the narrative of how Africans are looked at around the world," he says. "It's a privilege for another culture to try to imitate what you're doing. Music is a universal language, so I don't see any problem with that."

He believes the future of Africa lies with those who stay home, not the diaspora. "Everybody always has the American dream," he says. "Every kid that grows up in Africa wants to visit America. That's cool. It's okay to visit, but don't leave your people and go there."

Davido has over 8 million monthly listeners, including Britain's King Charles. He's shaping the global Afrobeats craze and inspiring a new generation of music fans.
