On Monday, December 2, 2024, a temporary officer of the Electoral Commission (EC) was taken into custody during the Northern region's Bimbilla Special Voting exercise.

This came after it was claimed that the official, who was identified as Gerti Justice, had photographed his ballot.

According to Accra-based ChannelOne TV, National Democratic Congress (NDC) agents at the voting station expressed alarm, which led to Justice's arrest.

Atta Napari Suale, the Progressive People's Party (PPP) parliamentary candidate, disclosed that Justice acknowledged to the office while being questioned by the police.

Justice was freed after lengthy negotiations, but the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) refused to agree, insisting that he be subject to the full force of the law.

A consensus was therefore reached for his name to be removed from the list of officials on duty.

At the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, a comparable incident took place.

One individual was arrested at Awayaso West Wuogon when someone tried to take a picture of his ballot, and the second incident resulted in a fight between an independent candidate named Abdul Rauf Abugri Mumuni and a voter.

Concerns regarding events in the Ayawaso Central constituency were also voiced by the NDC.
