A shooting incident occurred at the Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School in Bantano, Ashanti Region, on Friday, April 4, 2025, leaving two students seriously injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened during break time when Bernard Amoabeng, a Form 2 student, brought a gun to school. An argument ensued among students about whether the gun was functional. In an attempt to prove it was, Amoabeng allegedly fired the gun, accidentally shooting two students.

One student, Penamang, sustained a critical gunshot wound to the forehead and was rushed to Kwadoso Hospital. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later referred to Komfo Ankye Teaching Hospital.

The Suame Police have arrested Amoabeng and initiated a full investigation into the incident.
