Ghana Immigration Officer Killed by Speeding Vehicle Near Accra Arts Centre

A Ghana Immigration Service officer, AICO II Japhet Boateng Kyei, has tragically lost his life after being struck by a speeding vehicle near the Accra Arts Centre on the night of Saturday, July 19, 2025.

According to eyewitness reports, the officer had parked his vehicle and crossed the road to assist a stranded motorist whose car had broken down along the busy stretch. After successfully rendering assistance, AICO II Kyei was attempting to return to his vehicle when he was hit by a Hyundai Veloster with registration number DV 9050Y-25.

The impact of the collision was fatal, and the officer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident. The driver of the Hyundai Veloster is reportedly assisting the police with their inquiries.
