NIC, UCC Strengthen Partnership to Promote Insurance Education and Innovation

The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has engaged the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration in insurance education, research, innovation and capacity building.

The meeting, led by the Commissioner of Insurance, focused on the Campus Care Initiative and other strategic areas of mutual interest between the Commission and the university.

During the engagement, the Commissioner outlined the objectives of the Campus Care Initiative and highlighted the potential benefits it could bring to students and the wider UCC community.

The initiative is expected to contribute to efforts to improve insurance awareness among students and promote a better understanding of the importance of insurance in everyday life and economic development.

Discussions also centred on opportunities for collaboration between the insurance regulator and academia, particularly in the areas of research, innovation, skills development and insurance education.

Management of UCC expressed its readiness to partner with the Commission on various initiatives and proposed areas where both institutions could work together to strengthen insurance education and contribute to the development of Ghana’s insurance industry.

The engagement further highlighted the importance of closer collaboration between the insurance industry and tertiary institutions in equipping students with relevant knowledge and skills while creating opportunities for research and innovation.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to building a strong and sustainable partnership that will benefit students, the University of Cape Coast and the insurance industry.

The collaboration is expected to provide a platform for promoting insurance awareness on campus while supporting initiatives that contribute to the growth and development of Ghana’s insurance sector.
