
The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Daniel Yeboah, for unlawful possession of narcotic substances at a checkpoint near Samreboi.

According to the police, the suspect was intercepted on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Samreboi-Tanokrom Snap Check Point while traveling on a tricycle, popularly known as "Pragia." During a routine search, officers discovered two travelling bags containing 66 compressed parcels suspected to be Indian hemp.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Daniel Yeboah had been hired by an unidentified woman in Wenchi to deliver the substances to her at Mumuni Camp, near Samreboi. The suspect allegedly received a payment of GH¢5,000 for transporting the illicit packages.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the said woman and are urging the public to provide any information that could lead to her arrest and assist in ongoing investigations.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before the court on Monday, August 4, 2025.
The Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to fighting drug trafficking in the region and is calling on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
