According to the Electoral Commission, there are now 4,500 media accreditations available to cover the results collation in the constituency and regional collation centers.

The EC Chairperson stated during a news conference on Friday, November 29, 2024, that the Commission will provide the 4,500 accreditation cards to the Ghana Independent Broadcaster Association (GIBA) and Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) leadership by Sunday night.

The EC further stated that the GJA and GIBA will be responsible for allocating and distributing the 4,500 accreditation cards. The distribution and distribution of the cards will not involve the EC in any way.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the media prior to, during, and following the general election in December, emphasizing that it is the Commission that actually needs the media the most at this pivotal point in the political process.

The Commission clarified that rather than attempting to limit media access to the collation process, its previous memo to its regional directors was meant to guarantee that there would be a minimum amount of coverage in all constituency and regional collation centers.

In order to guarantee minimal coverage of the collation process, the previous letter recommended three TV stations and five radio stations for each constituency collation center, and five TV stations and seven radio stations for each regional collation center.

The Commission has however agreed with the GJA and GIBA that, in spite of the space limitation at many constituency and regional collation centres, the number of accreditations will be increased from the initially suggested minimum of 3,308 to 4,500.
