The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Upper East Regional branch, has celebrated Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, Chief Executive Officer of Charger Ghana Limited, with a prestigious Community Service Achievement Award for his exceptional contributions toward social and economic transformation in Northern Ghana.

The honour was presented at the 4th Regional GJA Awards, held at the BlueSky Hotel in Kumbosco on October 10, 2025, where journalists, stakeholders, and dignitaries gathered to recognize individuals and institutions driving positive change through their work.

Bortey Borketey, through his Happy Man Foundation, has spearheaded numerous community-based projects, including the provision of boreholes for deprived communities, support for widows and underprivileged persons, and educational scholarships for the youth. His efforts have not only improved access to clean water and education but also restored hope to many across the Upper East Region.

Beyond philanthropy, Bortey Borketey has been a strong pillar in Ghana’s creative arts industry, supporting regional music awards, talent development, and entertainment initiatives that promote local identity and empower young creatives.

The GJA commended him for his visionary leadership, corporate responsibility, and consistent dedication to regional growth, describing him as “a beacon of development whose work continues to inspire transformation and unity.”

His recognition reaffirms his reputation as a trailblazer in community development — one whose legacy continues to shape lives and empower generations.
