Ghanaian rapper and former YFM Accra presenter, Kula, has been revealed as the creative force behind the popular YouTube channel, Headless YouTuber. Known for its anonymity and engaging content, the channel has captured the attention of fans with videos where the creator’s face was cleverly obscured using edits, animations, and silhouettes.
In a recent revelation, Kula, whose real name is Frederick Mattey, shared his reasons for starting the channel anonymously. According to him, he launched the YouTube channel in 2021 during a difficult phase in his life after doing music for a decade. “I went anonymous because I didn’t want people to say I ventured into YouTube because I wasn’t succeeding as a musician,” he explained.
Kula is no stranger to the spotlight. As a rapper, he won the VGMA (now TGMA) Unsung Category in 2019, though his moment was overshadowed by the infamous Stonebwoy-Shatta Wale incident at the event. Despite the challenges, Kula has remained a significant figure in the Ghanaian music scene, known for his powerful lyrics and relatable themes of ambition and resilience.
After revealing his identity, Kula announced plans to expand his content beyond the Headless YouTuber brand. He aims to launch a podcast, conduct interviews, and explore new avenues in content creation.
This new chapter highlights Kula’s versatility and determination to connect with his audience, whether through music or digital media. Fans can now look forward to even more from the rapper-turned-YouTuber as he embraces his identity and expands his creative endeavors.
