The Coalition of Sandwich Students (CSS) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Institute of Education under the leadership of His Excellency Benjamin Nubour, CSS National president, has successfully held its first-ever National Financial Seminar, marking a significant step toward strengthening financial literacy, effective planning, sustainability, and accountability among its members.

The seminar, held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Institute of Education, UCC Main Campus, brought together key stakeholders, national executives, and active financial secretaries from various centers under the coalition.

The event was organized under the theme:

“Building Financial Literacy for Effective Planning, Sustainability, and Accountability.”

The objective of this maiden seminar was to equip participants with practical knowledge on financial management, budgeting, and accountability practices critical to running student organizations efficiently.

The seminar was graced by prominent personalities, including:

Prof. Eric Anane, Director of the Institute of Education, UCC

Dr. Emmanuel A. Bediako, distinguished academic and guest resource person

Dr. Anthony Koomson, CSS Patron

Daniel A. Dwaase, Senior Accountant and main speaker, who delivered an insightful session on practical financial management for student leaders.

In his keynote address, Daniel A. Dwaase emphasized the need for student leaders, particularly financial secretaries, to adopt transparent and sustainable financial practices. He also highlighted the importance of digital tools in improving financial accountability and reporting.

Speaking at the event, Benjamin Nubour, CSS National President, commended the Institute of Education for supporting the initiative. He stressed that financial mismanagement among student groups has been a major concern over the years, and this seminar is a proactive measure to empower leaders with the necessary skills to maintain integrity and efficiency.

The seminar provided participants with practical strategies to ensure transparency and effective financial planning within their respective centers. The CSS leadership hinted at plans to make the financial seminar an annual event, with subsequent editions incorporating digital finance training and investment education.

The University of Cape Coast, through its Institute of Education, continues to play a critical role in ensuring that student leaders are not only academically sound but also equipped with essential life skills for leadership and personal growth.

The maiden CSS National Financial Seminar sets a strong foundation for building a culture of accountability and sustainability among student executives.
