A land dispute in Gbenyiri, near Sawla-Tuna-Kalba in the Savannah Region, turned deadly after a gun battle left five people dead, including the chief of Kalba, and six others injured.
Reports say the fight began after disagreements over land sold to a private developer. When the developer attempted to use the land, some community members resisted, leading to a violent clash.
The injured were rushed to the district hospital in Tuna for treatment. Security personnel, led by the Savannah Regional Police Commander, have been deployed to the area to restore peace.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and calm is being maintained in both Gbenyiri and Kalba.
