A cholera outbreak has been reported in Ada, Ghana, prompting the closure of a local school to prevent further spread of the disease.
According to Dr. Franklin Asiedu Bekoe, Director of Public Health at Ghana Health Service (GHS), the outbreak has led to immediate measures to control the spread.
"The school has been closed temporarily to ensure the safety of students and staff," Dr. Bekoe stated.
The GHS has urged residents to take preventive measures, including:
- Frequent handwashing with soap and safe water
- Proper disposal of human waste
- Consuming thoroughly cooked food and peeled raw fruits/vegetables
Cholera is a highly contagious disease that can spread rapidly through contaminated food, water, and human contact.
