The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Headmaster of Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) to produce students allegedly involved in the assault of a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School.

The directive was given by the Director-General of the CID, Lydia Yarkor Donkor, following the circulation of viral videos showing some students, believed to be from SWESBUS, attacking a student during the Agona Swedru District Schools Athletics Competition.

According to police sources, the incident occurred on February 19, 2026, when tensions reportedly escalated between students of the two schools during the inter-schools athletics event. The victim is said to have been beaten and pelted with stones, resulting in injuries that required medical attention at a nearby health facility.

COP Donkor, who visited the SWESBUS campus on February 23, 2026, directed school authorities to immediately identify and hand over the students seen in the footage wearing SWESBUS uniforms and allegedly participating in the violent act.

She warned that failure by the school to comply with the directive within the stipulated 24-hour period would compel the police to take further lawful action to ensure the suspects are apprehended.

The CID Director-General stressed that the actions captured in the videos constitute criminal offences under Ghana’s laws and should not be treated merely as an issue of student misconduct or indiscipline.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing as the Police work to identify all individuals involved in the incident.
