The people of Amedzofe in the Ho West District of the Volta Region are set to host this year’s Amedzofe Tourism Day Celebration, which begins on Sunday, 28th September 2025. The annual festival, which has become a unifying platform for citizens both home and abroad, will be celebrated under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”

Amedzofe, a serene town nestled within the Akwapim-Togo mountain ranges, is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s hidden gems in eco-tourism, offering breathtaking landscapes, waterfalls, and rich cultural heritage. This year’s theme reflects the community’s desire to leverage its natural beauty and cultural endowments for sustainable development and economic growth through tourism.

According to the planning committee, the celebration will feature a variety of activities, including a grand durbar of chiefs and people, cultural performances, clean-up exercises, health screenings, hiking expeditions to scenic sites, and exhibitions showcasing local crafts, food, and innovation. These events are expected to highlight Amedzofe’s tourism potential while also creating awareness on the importance of preserving the environment and promoting local participation in development.

Speaking ahead of the festival, community leaders emphasized that tourism, if properly harnessed, can be a powerful tool for job creation, youth empowerment, and cultural preservation. They called on government agencies, investors, and stakeholders in the tourism sector to support Amedzofe’s vision of sustainable transformation.

The Amedzofe Tourism Day Celebration is also expected to attract visitors, including tourists, investors, and dignitaries from across Ghana and beyond, thereby boosting the local economy. For indigenes, it will serve as a time for family reunions, renewal of cultural pride, and reflection on the town’s development aspirations.

As the festival kicks off, expectations are high that this year’s theme will spark conversations and practical initiatives that will position Amedzofe as not only a cultural hub but also a leading eco-tourism destination in the Volta Region and Ghana at large.
