
CENTRAL TONGU MOURNS: DCE EULOGIZES NANA KONADU AGYEMAN-RAWLINGS' LEGACY
Hon. Addisson Dodzi Mornyuie, District Chief Executive of Central Tongu, has paid tribute to the late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a gem who dedicated her life to empowering women in Ghana. In an interview with Tony Mark-Boye, morning show host at GBC Volta Star Radio, Mornyuie recalled hearing about Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings in the 90s when he was in J.S.S. and developing a keen interest in current affairs and politics.
"I was at a party workshop in Accra on Thursday, 23rd October 2025 when the sad news of the passing of the former First Lady came out," Mornyuie said. He remembered visiting her at the workshop with three others, and she received them warmly, showcasing her enthusiasm for women empowerment.
Mornyuie highlighted Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' remarkable work in making women active in Ghana's socio-political landscape. "She was so enthusiastic with women empowerment," he said, echoing Kwegyir Aggrey's sentiments.
"We have lost a gem, but God knows best," Mornyuie added, calling for the continuity of women empowerment initiatives, emphasizing that women are the bedrock of the economy.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' legacy extends far beyond her role as First Lady. Through the 31st December Women's Movement, she championed women's rights, education, and economic empowerment, leaving an indelible mark on Ghana's development.

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection honored her as a visionary leader, recognizing her dedication to advancing women's rights and well-being.
