On the morrow of former First Lady Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings' demise, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been issued a poignant reminder: empower your grassroots loyalists in an emotive reminiscence of what the former first lady epitomised in her service to the party and nation.

In a statement released today,, 24th October, 2025, Deputy Communications Officer Mac-Billions Bansah reflected on the party's journey, saying:

"Power is transient and history has shown that it belongs not to those who hold it today, but to those who use it wisely."

Bansah honored Konadu's memory by urging the party to stay true to its roots, quoting:

"As the NDC steers the affairs of the nation once again under the visionary leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, it is important to pause and reflect on the journey that brought us here and the people who made it possible."

He highlighted the crucial role of grassroots supporters, saying:

"Our foot soldiers, ward executives, and grassroots comrades were not just voices in the crowd chanting 'Tsooboi' during the campaign; they were the backbone of our struggle, the energy behind our message, and the reason our victory became reality."

Mac-Billions Bansah emphasized their sacrifices, stating:

"These men and women sacrificed time, resources, and even personal comfort to defend the party’s vision in their communities. It would be a grave mistake to make them feel they are only useful during campaigns and rallies but have no place when it is time to share in the rewards of governance."

His solution is embedded in the party's agenda, quoting:

"The Reset Ghana Agenda must not only aim to fix systems and institutions it must also fix our own internal relationships. It must begin by empowering the very comrades who stood in the rain and sun for the party’s success. True progress begins at home. As we rebuild Ghana, let us rebuild the trust and morale of our people."

Mac-Billions Bansah cautioned against ignoring the grassroots, saying:

"A loyal base that feels forgotten soon becomes silent and silence at the base is the loudest threat to any political movement. The new NDC administration must, therefore, be intentional about inclusion, fairness, and recognition. Appointments, opportunities, and support systems should reflect the sacrifices of our members across all levels. When the base feels seen and valued, the party becomes unstoppable."
