Former Deputy Energy Minister, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government created over two million jobs since assuming office in 2016.
Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show about the country’s unemployment leading to the massive military recruitment, Mr. Mercer stated that the Akufo-Addo administration’s efforts in sectors such as agriculture, energy, digitalization, and infrastructure development contributed significantly to job creation.
He noted that initiatives like the Planting for Food and Jobs, NABCO, and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) programs offered opportunities to thousands of Ghanaians across the country.
Mr. Egyapa Mercer emphasized that the NPP government inherited a struggling economy with limited employment avenues and since worked tirelessly to reverse the trend. According to him, many of the jobs created are sustainable and have empowered young people to contribute meaningfully to national development.
