Madam Ellen Ama Daako, Special Aide to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasized that women like the late Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings should never be forgotten, describing her as one of Africa’s most impactful female leaders.

Speaking on GTV Breakfast during her reflections on the former First Lady’s legacy, Madam Daako highlighted that Nana Konadu’s contributions transcended Ghana’s borders, shaping conversations around women’s empowerment, leadership, and political participation across the continent. She noted that Nana Konadu stood as a symbol of courage and transformation at a time when women were largely absent from national decision-making spaces.
She underscored that through the 31st December Women’s Movement, Nana Konadu championed groundbreaking initiatives that improved women’s access to education, economic opportunities, and social protection. These accomplishments, Madam Daako said, reshaped the trajectory of women’s development in Ghana and inspired similar movements across Africa.
Nana Konadu’s relentless advocacy for gender equality, coupled with her assertive presence on the political stage, provided a blueprint for many women who aspired to lead and influence change within their communities and beyond.
Madam Daako concluded by urging the continent to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, stating that her boldness, resilience, and commitment to social justice should serve as guiding principles for current and future generations. She stressed that Ghana must honor the memory of women who paved the way for progress, ensuring that their stories continue to inspire young women to pursue leadership with confidence and purpose.
In her view, Nana Konadu’s life was a testament to the transformative power of vision-driven women, women whose impact endures long after they are gone.
