The chairman of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) UK branch, Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, commonly known as Wofa K, has given notice that the party will hold President-elect John Dramani Mahama accountable for fulfilling his campaign pledges.
It will no longer be business as usual, he said, and the next president needs to be held accountable.
According to his theory, the NDC candidate and his party lied extensively against the departing NPP government in order to gain power.
In an interview with Sir Richie, he made the comments on Rainbow Radio 92.4 FM in the UK and Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM in Ghana.
He claimed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his vice presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, performed admirably if the campaign was what Ghanaians used to win.
He added that the Akufo-Addo government performed admirably in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, despite having a strong campaign.
"No one can rule out the negative impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war and COVID-19," he stated.
He claimed that the NPP's victory would have guaranteed the continuance of their noted accomplishments.
He claimed that the new Mahama-led government would have no justification for failing because the NPP is leaving behind a strong economy with a 7% growth rate.
"The growth rate will decline and the nation will return to the problems and challenges we complained about if Mahama does not build on the growth we have achieved," he stated.
It is important for Muhammad to ensure that he stabilizes the cedi. Additionally, he pledged to assist in lowering the cost of Kenkey. They pledged to keep the free SHS in place. They pledged to do away with E-Levy. Ghanaians are expectantly awaiting the fulfillment of these promises, which they provided with precise deadlines. To improve living conditions for Ghanaians, they ought to fulfill their commitments.
When they went to campaign in the rural areas, they realized that many Ghanaians lived there and were ignorant of these issues, so they spread lies to get their support. In 2016, he continued, "They left the country in a terrible state with dumsor for nearly five years."
"They took us to the IMF," he continued. With the collapse of businesses, which cost the nation GHC 10.88 billion annually, Mahama erased all the achievements earned and sent us into five years of dumsor. Atta Mills raised our GDP from 8% under former President John Agyekum Kufour to 14%. That was the nation's situation.
After that, we (NPP) put in a lot of effort and made Ghana the fastest-growing economy in the world in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Had it not been for the Covid-19 pandemic, our experience would have been different. However, they have deceived Ghanaians, caused them to lose faith in this administration, and won the elections. We're interested to see where they would put this nation. Half of our GDP record is better than Mahama's best in 2016, despite the issues we complain about.
