President Akufo-Addo's parting Christmas speech

As his time as president draws to a close, President Akufo-Addo has sent out his farewell Christmas message to Ghanaians.

The outgoing president reflected on themes of appreciation, solidarity, and hope for the future of the country in a poignant televised message on Tuesday, December 24. He also sent out warm holiday wishes.

"As we assemble around our tables to eat together, let us remember those who enable our festivities—the security guards keeping watch so we can celebrate safely, the medical professionals tending to the ill, and the farmers and fishermen whose labour provides for our families," he said.

President Akufo-Addo asked Ghanaians to keep the less fortunate in mind, hoping that their deeds and prayers will give those in need solace and rejuvenation.

"As I approach the end of my lawful term as President and get ready to embark on the next chapter of my life, I leave you with this thought: Ghana is a nation destined for greatness," he said, reflecting on his leadership and highlighting Ghana's enormous potential. Let us preserve her tranquilly, value her solidarity, and foster her promise.

He called on people to band together in order to accomplish great goals and underlined the significance of love and hope as essential forces for advancement.

"May this Christmas season bring blessings into our lives, laughter into our families, and joy into our hearts. May God continue to richly bless our country and its citizens, and may the upcoming year help us get closer to the Ghana of our dreams," he said.

"My fellow Ghanaians, have a Merry Christmas."
