Lawyers for Gifty Oware Mensah, former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), have denied claims that she has been invited by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in connection with investigations into alleged financial irregularities within the National Service Scheme (NSS).
In a statement issued on February 28, 2025, her legal representatives, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, confirmed that Oware Mensah has not been contacted by the NIB or any other investigative body.
The statement refuted social media rumors suggesting she fled the country to avoid questioning following the arrest of former NSA Deputy Executive Director, Kwaku Ohene Djan. Her lawyers emphasized that she remains in Ghana and has no plans to relocate.
They also stated that Oware Mensah is willing to cooperate with any state agency if needed, urging authorities to contact her directly or through her legal representatives.
The statement comes amid ongoing investigations into the NSS payroll scandal, which uncovered fraudulent names linked to fake student index numbers, resulting in a loss of GH¢2.2 billion.
Oware Mensah’s legal team called on the public to disregard false reports and allow the due process of law to take its course.
