Singaporean investor sues NDC over $1.5m campaign donation

A Singaporean investor, Toh You Kang, has filed a human rights lawsuit in Accra, claiming he was misled into donating $1.5 million to the NDC during the 2024 campaign.

He says the money was channeled through Greater Accra Regional Chairman Emmanuel Nii Ashie-Moore to support the party’s “24-hour economy” policy with campaign materials.

But that’s not all. Kang alleges the donation was pitched as a strategic move to enter Ghana’s electricity cable market—and claims Ashie-Moore used President Mahama’s name to win his trust.

The twist? Kang says he was detained, assaulted, and denied legal help during a visit to Ghana in May 2025.

He’s now seeking GH¢20 million in damages and the return of $800,000 meant for ECG contracts that never happened.
