The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series. A total of 38,316 candidates participated, including 17,596 males and 21,131 females, with 1,354 candidates absent.
However, WAEC flagged several cases of examination malpractice, leading to the withholding of subject results for 303 candidates and the entire results of 108 candidates, pending further investigation.
In terms of performance, the core subjects showed varied results:
- **English Language**: 54.79% of candidates achieved grades A1-C6, while 13.45% failed (F9).
- **Mathematics**: 37.44% earned A1-C6, nearly identical to the 37.42% who failed.
- **Integrated Science**: 53.31% scored A1-C6, with 18.46% failing.
- **Social Studies**: This subject had the highest success rate, with 87.88% of candidates earning A1-C6, and only 5.76% failed.
WAEC also cautioned candidates against falling victim to fraudsters claiming to upgrade results for a fee.
The council reiterated that its results database is secure and that all results can be verified online at www.waecgh.org.
