Majority Leader and Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin has been instructed by former Adentan MP Kojo Adu-Asare to assume leadership and control his temper.

According to Mr. Adu-Asare, depending on the situation, each person may exhibit a particular temperament.

However, he stated that Mr. Afenyo-Markin needs to exercise caution as a leader to avoid letting his temperament influence him to make choices that may adversely affect his position.

In response to the chaos generated by the announcement of four vacant seats, the former MP provided this advice while appearing on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen program.

"He is a wonderful gentleman, but patience is required." Different temperaments are needed for the job, and as a leader, you should be able to handle and regulate your own temperament. Anger may surface, but if you make decisions while angry, the results will backfire," he added.

Speaking about the indefinite suspension of sitting and the following recall request from the NPP MPs, the former lawmaker said that a certain amount of patience may have prevented the setbacks.

"If we had cured our pride, couldn't we have avoided this suspension and recall request? Parliament must now reassemble in around 14 days.

"So, what has this ruling in the non-sitting parliament added to your case? I will beg him since he is a close buddy and it has somewhat dragged your government and business back. I hope he succeeds wherever this endeavor leads him, but he needs to control his temper," he remarked.

Additionally, Mr. Adu-Asare recommended Mr. Afenyo-Markin to have at least one confidant in his camp in case of such issues.

Citing Adansi Asokwa MP and Trade Minister Kobina Tahir (K.T.) Hammond, he claimed that this would keep him from being a pawn for his caucus members.

"He ought to have a single person he can turn to for support whenever he needs it.

He can seek advice from knowledgeable individuals. He encouraged, "There are other people, even if he won't even go to him. I don't know his relationship with Kyei Mensah."
