The Agona Asafo Traditional Council has taken a bold step to ban political campaigns in the area to maintain peace and tranquility before, during, and after the December 7 polls . This decision was made after the council observed the escalating tensions and insults being traded between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at various information centers.
Nana Yamfo Asuako XII, the President of the Council, emphasized that the rate of insults and character assassination on the airwaves could compromise the peace in the town. He urged political parties to focus on issue-based campaigns rather than accusations and insinuations.
The Traditional Council is optimistic that political party supporters will comply with the directive to promote peace. Nana Asuako called on the NPP and NDC to exercise decorum in their campaigns and build inspiring messages to motivate their supporters .
