Akufo-Addo commissions Flower Pot Interchange today

Ghana's President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is set to commission the highly anticipated Flower Pot Interchange today, November 19, 2024. This impressive infrastructure project is expected to greatly ease traffic congestion on the North and South corridors of the Tema Motorway, making it easier for commuters to access areas like Tema, Spintex, and East Legon .

*Key Features of the Flower Pot Interchange:*

- _Dual Carriageway Viaduct_: An 802-meter long viaduct surfaced with asphalt, designed to streamline traffic flow.

- _Ramps_: A 140-meter ramp from Shiashie onto the viaduct towards Airport Hills and an 80-meter ramp connecting the viaduct to the Motorway towards Tema.

- _Total Cost_: GHS 285 million, reflecting the project's expanded scope and additional works.

The construction of the Flower Pot Interchange began in March 2017, after the NPP government renegotiated the project's scope, increasing its total cost to GHS 285 million . This significant investment is expected to improve mobility along key transit routes, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall urban transit experience.
