According to a report by GHOne TV on Saturday, residents of Odododiodio Constituency in Accra, Ghana, awoke to horrifying news when a well-known church pastor was discovered dead inside his home under strange circumstances.
On Saturday morning, the pastor, Reverend Samuel Kwame Asare, was discovered deceased in his bedroom, with his Bible and a white prayer cloth beside him.
According to intimate sources, he had not been seen outside in two days, which concerned his church members and neighbors.
Members of the Christ Ministry, where Reverend Asare was the senior pastor, said they went to his house after he failed to show up for a Friday night prayer service.
One of the elders, Madam Grace Mensah, described the devastating moment they discovered his lifeless body.
We knocked on his door multiple times but received no response. Because we knew he lived alone, we decided to notify the police. When they broke down the door, we saw him laying on his bed with his Bible and prayer cloth by him. "It was heartbreaking," she added.
Police officers from the Accra Central Police Station came on the spot and transported the victim to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, although reports say the pastor complained of slight chest issues the previous Sunday.
"He informed us he was feeling a little sick, but he persisted on preaching. "We didn't expect this to happen so quickly," remarked one church member.
Meanwhile, the police have informed the public that they are exploring every possibility.
Inspector John Boamah, who led the police squad, told journalists that officers would review medical findings before drawing any conclusions.
"At the time, we do not suspect foul play, but we are awaiting the post-mortem findings. "The family and church members should be calm while we conduct investigations," he stated.
Following the news of Reverend Asare's death, church members met at the church for a prayer service. Some members were spotted crying, while others performed worship hymns in his honor.
The deceased preacher was well-known for his strong sermons and charity activity in the neighborhood.
Many referred to him as a "humble servant of God who dedicated his life to helping the less fortunate."
The funeral arrangements are yet to be announced as the family awaits the post-mortem report.
