: A devastating accident occurred on the Pokuase Highway yesterday evening, resulting in the death of a woman. The incident happened when a Kia Rhino truck carrying roofing sheets lost its brakes while descending the Pokuase Overhead, leading to a multi-vehicle collision.

The truck rammed into three other vehicles, including a Toyota Corolla, causing extensive damage. One of the vehicles was completely wrecked, emphasizing the severity of the impact. Emergency responders worked tirelessly to rescue survivors and clear the wreckage.

Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One (ADO1) Alex King Nartey confirmed the fatality, stating that the deceased is a female. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was on-site to manage the aftermath and provide support to survivors.

This accident is not an isolated incident, as the Pokuase Highway has seen its fair share of accidents, raising questions about its safety measures. In fact, there have been reports of other accidents on the same highway, including one that occurred on Monday dawn, which created a gridlock around Pokuase ¹.

Road safety advocates are calling for stricter enforcement of vehicle maintenance regulations and driver education to ensure safer roads. The authorities have announced that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest brake failure, but officials aim to uncover all contributing factors to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
