A former Special Prosecutor has strongly criticized the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin's, proposal to recall Parliament for an emergency session on November 28 and 29, 2024. The former Special Prosecutor described the move as pointless, unrealistic, and a threat to Ghana's democratic process .

According to the former Special Prosecutor, the proposal prioritizes partisan government interests over the concerns of the electorates.

He also accused Afenyo-Markin of ignoring critical national issues, such as the October 2024 Bawku crisis, which resulted in the killing and maiming of hundreds of citizens .

The proposed emergency session aims to consider urgent matters, including a US$250 million loan for the Ghana Energy Sector Recovery Programme and nine bills .

However, the former Special Prosecutor believes that the proposal is impractical, given the limited time available before the December 7 elections .
