Minority Slams President Mahama as "Terminator 1" Over Mass Termination of Public Sector Jobs

Outgoing Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has strongly criticized President Mahama's government for the recent mass termination of public sector employment, accusing the President of causing job losses and worsening unemployment in the country.

Speaking at a press conference in Parliament, Dr. Adam emphasized that the termination of jobs for young Ghanaians is a sign of what's to come, and that sacking people and replacing them later doesn't amount to job creation. He stated that what Ghanaians want are new jobs for those yet to be employed.¹

Dr. Adam also claimed that President Mahama's policies, such as "nkoko nkitinkiti," cannot create sustainable jobs for the youth, and that the President has resorted to removing current employees and hiring new ones to falsely inflate employment numbers.

Furthermore, Dr. Adam accused President Mahama of engaging in double standards, pointing out that in 2016, the President defended an outgoing administration's authority to hire and sign contracts until midnight on January 7, the official end of its tenure. Dr. Adam cautioned that these layoffs will worsen the unemployment situation, which President Mahama had promised to fix.
