The seven-year chieftaincy dispute in Nkoranza has finally come to an end with the re-swearing in of Nana Kwame Baffoe IV as the Omanhene. This milestone was marked with a grand traditional ceremony attended by kingmakers and residents, signaling a new era of unity and progress for the Nkoranza Traditional Area.
The dispute began in 2016 following the death of the late Omanhene, Okatakyi Agyemang Kudom, and was fueled by disagreements over succession. Nana Kwame Baffoe IV's enrollment in 2021 was initially met with opposition from the late queen mother and other kingmakers, but his gazetting and eventual acceptance by the House of Chiefs have now united the stakeholders.
In his inaugural address, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV emphasized the importance of reconciliation and urged his subjects to put aside their differences and work together towards growth and prosperity. Nana Effah Adomako, the Akyemehene of the Nkoranza Traditional Council, also welcomed the resolution of the dispute, expressing optimism about the area's future under Nana Kwame Baffoe IV's leadership.
This resolution is a significant step forward for Nkoranza, marking a new chapter of stability, unity, and development. With the dispute now behind them, the community can focus on progress and growth, and Nana Kwame Baffoe IV is poised to lead the way.
