The Northern Regional branch of the Pensioners Association has commended the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) for its commitment to providing security, dignity, and hope to retired pensioners in Ghana. SSNIT has been consistent in paying monthly pensions to pensioners since the early nineties, without any defaults .
The Pensioners Association has called for the protection of the scheme to ensure that future generations can benefit from their labor. The association's chairman, Njaawura Issah B. Yahaya, emphasized that the scheme has become a critical national asset and that SSNIT has been a lifeline for thousands of Ghanaians .
SSNIT's Director-General, Mr. Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo, assured that the trust is committed to safeguarding the scheme for both current and future generations. He also highlighted that SSNIT has been improving its strategies for collecting contributions, managing costs, and making prudent investments .
Additionally, Chief Actuary at SSNIT, Mr. Joseph Poku, stated that the scheme will be able to pay pensions and meet its financial obligations beyond 2036. He urged pensioners not to be swayed by misinformation in the media but to be assured that their investment is safe with the Trust .
