The Queen Mother of Naketey, Nana Mamiley Awusi, is calling on the government to support the completion of a maternity ward at the community's CHPS compound in the Ahafo Region. She's concerned about the hardships pregnant women face due to the lack of a proper maternity facility. The project, initiated by the community, has stalled due to a lack of funds, and Nana Mamiley Awusi is urging the government to intervene urgently to save lives.
This issue highlights the importance of community-led initiatives in improving healthcare infrastructure. For instance, the Galwei CHPS compound in the Northern region was renovated and expanded through a collaborative effort between the Community Health Management Committee and the People for Health project.
This renovation improved healthcare services, especially for pregnant women, and demonstrates the potential for community-led initiatives to drive positive change.
In addition to the maternity ward, the community is also facing challenges with poor road conditions and a lack of telephone network. Assembly Member Daniel Amoka and a resident highlighted these issues, emphasizing the need for the government to address them.
