The National Union of Okada Riders is pushing for regularization of commercial Okada operations in Ghana. According to the union, there's currently no regularized plan in place for their operations, which has become a significant part of the transport sector.

Speaking at a press conference, National Spokesperson Solomon Akpanaba highlighted that motor riders in Ghana operate without proper training and education on basic road rules. This, he believes, contributes to the high number of road accidents in the country.

Akpanaba emphasized the need for riders to acquire licenses only after undergoing state-recognized training. He also pointed out that despite the Vice President's emphasis on data-driven decision-making, there's a lack of data on Okada riders.

The union's call for regularization aims to address these issues and ensure that Okada operations are safe, organized, and contribute positively to the country's transportation sector.
