Three school children, aged 4, 10, and 16, have been arrested in Takoradi for allegedly stealing a large sum of money from a popular supermarket. According to reports, the children stole GHC35,000 from the supermarket.

The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which showed the children entering the supermarket under the pretense of buying ice cream. While the 10-year-old distracted the cashier, the 16-year-old, who is a first-year student in a local Senior High School, stole the money from the cashier's drawer.

After filling his pocket with the stolen money, the 10-year-old went outside to get a rubber bag. He then returned to the supermarket and filled the bag with the remaining money. The children then bolted from the shop with the stolen money.

A supplier who witnessed the incident reported it to the supermarket manager, who then reviewed the CCTV footage. The footage revealed the children's school uniforms and crest, which led to their identification. The 16-year-old was identified at her school, and she subsequently led the authorities to her siblings.

The children confessed to stealing the money and handing it over to their mother. The mother was also arrested, and GHC31,000 of the stolen money was retrieved. The police are still investigating the incident and are working to recover the remaining stolen amount.

The incident has raised concerns about the security measures in place at the supermarket. However, the supermarket has since taken steps to enhance security, including increasing the number of security personnel on site.
