A dramatic scene unfolded in Accra as two armed thugs engaged in a high-speed chase with the police. The pursuit, which lasted for approximately 3 kilometers, ended with the suspects being shot dead by the police.
According to eyewitnesses, the chase began when the police received a distress call about an armed robbery in progress. The suspects, who were reportedly armed with pistols, had targeted a mobile money vendor and made off with cash and valuables.
As the police gave chase, the suspects attempted to flee on a motorbike, weaving in and out of traffic. The police, however, were hot on their heels, and the suspects eventually lost control of their motorbike and fell near a construction site.
Despite being cornered, the suspects reportedly fired shots at the police in a desperate bid to escape. The police, however, responded with equal force, and the suspects were eventually shot dead.
The police have since recovered two pistols, several rounds of ammunition, and the stolen cash from the scene. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the deceased suspects were linked to other criminal activities in the area.
