The Blue Skies Foundation has cut the sod for the construction of a three-unit classroom block and a fully-furnished ICT center for the Panpanso Krokesse MA Basic School in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The initiative which is part of the Company’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the country, follows escalating issues of classroom shortages at the school, where learners are forced to share inadequate number of classrooms with no ICT facility for its effective teaching and learning.

The appeal for the construction of a three-unit classroom block is to complement the existing six-unit classroom block which currently accommodate some 151 pupils from the Kindergarten to JHS.

To address the problem, the Foundation has therefore broken the ground for the construction of the facilities including a fully furnished ICT centre for the Junior High School.

Blue Skies in 2007 put up a three-unit classroom block for the community to house the kindergarten and the lower primary where pupils were forced to commute over five kilometers to attend school in the adjoining community.

The government of the day subsequently added three more classrooms with the construction of a three-unit classroom block for the school to have a complete primary school.

The increasing number of pupils in the face of limited infrastructure resulted in the pupils trekking five kilomters to a nearby community to access junior high school education.

To save the situation community leaders, together with the school authorities improvised by partitioning the classrooms to create additional rooms to accommodate the junior high school students.

As a long-term measure towards solving the challenge, an appeal was made to the Blue Skies Company to come to the aid of the school, with the Company responding swiftly to the call by breaking the grounds.

Additionally, the Foundation will refurbish the existing classroom blocks.

Head of Foundation and Corporate Affairs at Blue Skies Products Ghana Limited, Mr. Alistair Djimatey in an interview noted that their intention is to help provide access to quality and modern-day education to the pupils in the community, no matter where they are located.

Grateful for the gesture, head teacher of the Panpanso Krokesse MA Basic School, Mr. Daniel Kwao Sackitey demonstrated his appreciation to Blue Skies Foundation for coming to their aid to ameliorate their challenges.

Despite the difficulties, he disclosed that the first batch of the school recorded an impressive one hundred percent pass rate in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The ultra-modern classroom block will consist of three classrooms, an ICT centre, sanitary facility, staff common room, office for the head teacher, a library, and stores as well as tiling of the whole school.

Mr. Djimatey also bemoaned how farmlands in the country are being depleted at an alarming rate with arable lands being given out to estate developers with the situation affecting the progress of agriculture in the country.

To address the unemployment situation in the country, he advocated for the expansion and industrialization of agriculture in the country.
