The Edward Ohene Kye Family Scholarship has officially announced a call for applications for the 2026/2027 academic year, targeting exceptional Ghanaian students pursuing undergraduate studies in Medicine, Nursing, and Law.
The privately established scholarship, founded by Edward Ohene Kye, is designed not only to provide financial support but also to nurture a lifelong community grounded in discipline, integrity, leadership, and service.
According to the organisers, the initiative is a legacy project aimed at developing future leaders who will contribute meaningfully to Ghana and the global community.
Eligible programmes under the scholarship include Medicine (MBChB or equivalent), Nursing (BSc Nursing or equivalent), and Law (LLB).
The scholarship is strictly limited to undergraduate studies, with postgraduate programmes, diplomas, master’s degrees, and professional short courses explicitly excluded.
In line with its commitment to inclusivity, the scholarship strongly encourages applications from qualified persons living with disabilities. Organisers stress that all applicants will be assessed strictly on merit.
As part of the application process, candidates are required to submit essays addressing four key areas: their motivation for applying for the scholarship, a personal experience demonstrating integrity, discipline, or service, their understanding of belonging to a lifelong family and legacy, and how they intend to contribute to the Scholarship Family if selected. Applicants are encouraged to submit essays of no fewer than 300 words.
The application portal will open at 12:00am GMT on January 1, 2026, and close at 11:59pm GMT on February 28, 2026.
Prospective applicants are advised to monitor the official social media pages of the Edward Ohene Kye Family Scholarship, as well as the verified social media accounts of its Life Patron and President, Edward Ohene Kye, where the official application link will be published.
The scholarship administrators have emphasised that there is no application fee and that all applicants will be given equal consideration. Due to the expected high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
The Edward Ohene Kye Family Scholarship is privately governed and internationally administered from Hartford, United States, with operational outreach in Ghana.
