The court case involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and seven others has been postponed to February 26.
The court granted the adjournment after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) requested more time to complete key pre-trial processes.
These include international steps to serve court summons on Mr Ofori-Atta and another accused person, Ernest Darko Akore, both of whom have been declared fugitives from justice and are currently outside the country.
The purpose of the Wednesday hearing was to serve as a case management conference where the court would establish guidelines for the trial's course.Due to two unfulfilled prerequisites, that session could not proceed. The OSP told the court that summons have not yet been served on Mr Ofori-Atta and Mr Akore is a procedure that needs to be completed via the Attorney General's Department. The prosecution also argued not all disclosure documents have been submitted and served on the defense.
The prosecution requested further time due to these unresolved difficulties. The court agreed and established the next date for February 26, expecting all proceedings to be finished by then. Charges of corruption and related offenses pertaining to contracts given to Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) and other public procurement transactions are part of the November 2025 case. The accused persons are Ken Ofori-Atta, Ernest Darko Akore, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, Isaac Crentsil, Kwadwo Damoah, Evans Adusei, and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited.
