On Thursday, 21st November 2024, the Government of Ghana will inaugurate over 80 educational projects across all 16 regions of the country. This ambitious initiative seeks to improve access to quality education by providing modern facilities tailored to meet the diverse needs of Ghanaian students.

The nationwide event will be led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum joining in officiating ceremonies at various sites. Events will be held simultaneously at district and regional levels and broadcast live on major television networks and social media platforms to enable nationwide participation.

The projects span all levels of education, from basic schools to senior high schools (SHS) and technical institutions, with a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Among the most notable initiatives are the Kpasenkpe Model STEM SHS in the West Mamprusi District, the Accra STEM Academy in La-Nkwantanang-Madina, and the Awaso Model STEM SHS in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai.

Basic education is also receiving a significant boost, with projects such as a 12-unit classroom block at Salem D/A Basic School in Atwima Mponua and two-unit kindergarten blocks at Fremasi DA Primary in Assin South.

In the Ashanti Region, the Bosomtwe Model STEM JHS will feature an impressive four-storey, 11-unit classroom block, while the Wesley Girls Demonstration School in Kumasi Metro will benefit from a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities.

The Northern Region will see the Sagnarigu Tamale Business School unveil an 18-unit classroom block to cater to its growing student population. Similarly, the Volta Region will benefit from upgraded facilities such as the six-unit classroom block at Kodzobi Ando Basic School in Adaklu, complete with modern sanitation facilities.

The initiative also underscores the government’s commitment to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Projects like the Anyinam TVET-Applied Technical and Fashion School and the Akomadan TVET-Applied Technical School are designed to equip students with practical skills aligned with job market demands.

“These projects reflect the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education and ensuring that every Ghanaian child has access to a conducive learning environment,” the Ministry of Education stated.

The Ministry has extended an invitation to the general public to witness this milestone event, either by attending commissioning ceremonies at the various project sites or by following the live broadcasts.

“This is a celebration of progress in education. We encourage all Ghanaians to join,” the statement added.

This significant milestone reaffirms the government's dedication to transforming the nation’s educational landscape and supporting Ghanaian students in achieving their full potential.
